Event Details

Michael Surtees is a multidisciplinary designer, writer and educator
residing in NYC. As the Design Director of the online news service Daylife
he helps design new products and applications for clients like SKY News, the
BBC, NPR and Dallas Morning News. Prior to Daylife he's worked with
Panasonic and has been featured in Slate and New York Magazine. Michael also
publishes daily at DesignNotes.info in which he tries to explore people's
daily experience and observations with design. In Memphis at the AIGA
National Design Conference Make | Think he shared his walking to work
experiences for 20/20 based on what he's learned from blogging. Before
moving to NYC Michael was quite involved with the design Community in
Canada. In Edmonton he was worked his way from a student representative for
the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada to VP of Education, to Chapter
President at 26 and for a brief time the National VP of Communication.


PARKING AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS

From Dallas: take I-30 West to Center Exit (the Cooper exit is closed) follow the curve and turn right onto the I-30 north approach road and drive to Cooper and turn left over the highway. Pass Randoll Mills, Division, Abrams, UTA blvd. The first turn on the right pass UTA Blvd is the parking lot to the Fine Arts Building. Park. The 3 story building with the sculpture in front is the Fine Arts Building go though the doors next to the sculpture. Update: We are moving this event from the Visual Commons room to the Fine Arts Auditorium, room 148 on the first floor next to the gallery, to accommodate the large attendance. Signs will be posted onsite with this info, and address/parking info remains the same.

Parking: Available in the faculty parking next to the building and around the corner at UTA Blvd and Neederman.
